UEF user account
A UEF account is needed to log in to nearly all the systems and services of the University of Eastern Finland. Your information must be recorded in the personnel information system Mepco (a member of personnel or a researcher on a grant researcher agreement) or in the student record Oodi before activating the account.
If you already have an UEF-account, do not activate a new account! You can continue to use your username after changing the password.
If you do not have a user account, you need to activate it on the university’s website using your online banking codes. If you do not have online banking codes for a Finnish bank, the activation code can be obtained via the customer services of IT Services.
Further information about activating the user account can be found on the webpage of IT Services.
The access rights of the user account are given automatically according to the contract in Mepco or in Oodi. They depend on your status. The personnel rights granted after a strong authentication of the person’s identity are the widest. Instead, access rights granted to usernames activated with an activation code are limited. Upon the unit’s approval, grant researchers may also apply for extended rights using an electronic application form available at asiointi.uef.fi. If there are breaks in your employment contract, it will be possible to apply for the access rights to cover the breaks. If your role changes (from a student to a personnel or vice-versa), your access rights will automatically change.
More information about user account and access rights can be found in Heimo (requires UEF login).
Information about ending of the access rights can be found on the webpages of the IT-services > I have or have had a UEF username.
