Continued right to study
UEF Register No. 960/00.00.02/2019.
Section 59/2019
27 May 2019
The Board of the University of Eastern Finland has adopted Study Regulations for the university in its meeting of 21 May 2019. According to the Study Regulations (Section 16.1):
The right to complete a degree terminates when the degree for which the right has been granted has been completed. A student, who has completed a Master’s degree or a Bachelor’s degree with no right to complete a Master’s degree at the University of Eastern Finland, has the right to complement their studies free of charge during the academic year in which the degree was completed and the following two academic years by enrolling as a student (continued right to study).
Students who graduate on or after 1 August 2019 may activate their continued right to study at any time after completing their degree. However, the right to study always terminates after the academic year in which the degree was completed and the following two academic years are over. The continued right to study can be activated by enrolling as a student at the Student Services customer service desk.
Students who have activated their continued right to study may study at the university in accordance with a right to pursue minor subject studies, or to complete minor subject studies for which the student has received the right to study during their degree studies. Any restrictions on participation shall be specified in the curricula.
Students with a continued right to study shall be entitled to get an official transcript of academic records for the studies they have completed.
