Welcome as a continuing professional education student
Continuing education at the University of Eastern Finland develops your professional competence. Continuing education does not lead to a degree and does not entitle you to student social benefits.
The training programme description includes the curriculum or content of the programme, the enrolment or application period, and any limits on the number of students. Students are generally admitted in order of enrolment. If a programme has a separate application process, the selection criteria are published alongside the programme announcement.
You can find the programmes on the continuing professional education website. Enrol in your chosen programme through the enrolment link.
Study right and duration of studies
You will receive written confirmation of the start of your training programme from the programme provider. Each programme has a target duration and a possible extension period. Complete your studies within the validity period of your study right.
Payment
The price and payment method for each programme are listed on the programme’s web page. You can find detailed payment information on the enrolment form. You can pay either at the time of enrolment or by invoice after the programme has started. You will receive the invoice according to the invoicing practice of the programme.
Payment plan for long programmes
For long training programmes, it may be possible to divide the payment into several instalments. Payment plans are agreed on a case-by-case basis. The full programme fee must be paid during the validity of your study right.
Late payments
- The university will send one payment reminder if a payment is more than 7 days overdue.
- If the payment is not made after the reminder, the invoice may be referred to a debt collection agency.
- Late payments are subject to penalty interest in accordance with the Interest Act.
- If your payment is delayed for a justified reason, contact the person responsible for invoicing as soon as possible.
For all payment-related questions – such as the due date, payer details or invoicing information – contact the person responsible for invoicing for your programme by email.
VAT
Continuing education is generally subject to value added tax (VAT). The price indicated for each programme is either inclusive or exclusive of VAT in accordance with the Value Added Tax Act (Sections 39–40).
Cancellation terms
Cancellation terms are programme-specific. Always check the cancellation terms for your programme on the programme page or the enrolment form.
General practice:
- Cancel your enrolment no later than 14 calendar days before the start of the programme.
- If you cancel later, you will be charged 50% of the programme fee.
- If you do not cancel and do not attend, you will be charged the full fee.
Exceptions: Illness verified by a medical certificate. Send the medical certificate by secure email to [email protected].
You may substitute another participant from the same organisation in your place at no additional charge, provided the programme does not have a separate selection process or other restrictions. Notify the programme of the substitution in advance or at the latest at the start of the programme.
