If you are planning a traineeship abroad, the type of support depends on the location of your traineeship:
- Europe: You apply primarily for the Erasmus+ traineeship grant from International Mobility Services. Read more on the Erasmus+ traineeship page.
- Countries outside Europe: You apply for UEF international traineeship support from your faculty.
Note: You cannot receive UEF international traineeship support and an Erasmus+ traineeship grant or other university funding (e.g. Finnish National Agency for Education traineeship support) at the same time.

Who can apply and for which fields
- UEF international traineeship support is available to Bachelor’s and Master’s degree students from all fields of study.
- The traineeship can replace a mandatory or voluntary traineeship in your degree.
- You receive credits for your traineeship based on its scope and content, once you have completed it according to your study plan (for example, by writing a traineeship report following your department’s instructions).
- You can receive traineeship support only once per degree.
Requirements for traineeship support
- The traineeship must last at least 2 months.
- The traineeship must be full-time (minimum 30 hours per week).
- The traineeship can take place in a private company or a public organisation.
- The traineeship may be unpaid.
- Your faculty decides on the amount of traineeship support.
Agreements
Before your traineeship begins, you sign a traineeship placement agreement together with your employer and a representative of your department. The agreement covers:
- the content and duration of the traineeship,
- supervision and guidance,
- liability insurance.
Your study programme’s traineeship contact person approves your traineeship placement and ensures that the content meets the requirements for a traineeship included in your degree. They also assist you with the traineeship agreement. See who is the traineeship contact person for your study field from your subject’s study community.
