At UEF, you will develop your language and communication skills as part of your degree. In Language Centre courses you will learn the skills you need during your studies and in working life, and give you tools to keep developing in the future. UEF Language Centre offers language and communication studies for all degree students, exchange students and staff members.
Degree students
For degree students (Bachelor, Master, and Doctoral), Language Centre offers courses in English and Finnish. Register for courses in Peppi through your personal study plan (PSP). Further information and course catalogue, see Peppi.
In addition to courses included in your degree, you can choose from a range of optional language courses. Browse the full course catalogue in Peppi.
You can also take optional language courses offered by the KiVANET network. There are also courses available that are taught in English.
Bachelor’s programmes
If you are an international student in a Bachelor’s degree programme taught in English, you will study both Finnish and English courses according to your personal study plan. Please see you personal study plan in Peppi, more information also in Language Centre study community.
Master’s programmes
If you are an international student in a Master’s degree programme taught in English, your language studies typically include Finnish language studies (usually 4 ECTS). Some Master’s degree programmes also include academic English courses and some of which are a compulsory part of the degree. Language Centre’s optional language courses are available for Master’s students. Please see your personal study plan in Peppi, more information also in the Language Centre study community.
Doctoral School
As a doctoral researcher, you can take courses in Finnish, English, and communication. Browse the full course catalogue in Peppi. Language Centre’s optional language courses are available for doctoral researchers. More information also in the Language Centre study community.
Exchange students
If you are an exchange student, you can study Finnish by taking the course Finnish 1A. You may also join other Finnish courses if there are free places in the group.
Optional language courses are available to you as well. For example, Chinese language courses, that are taught in English. Please see further details in Peppi and in the Language Centre study community.
Staff
If you are a UEF staff member, you can take language and communication courses organised by the Language Centre. Find the courses available and register in Kongressi. If you have a valid study right, you can register to Finnish courses in Peppi as a student. Please see further information in the Language Centre Study community.
