Our campuses are designed to be as accessible as possible for getting around and studying. On this page, you can find information about facilities, routes, restaurants, and parking.
Buildings and routes
The main entrances of campus buildings have ramps, and doors are generally fitted with push-button openers. All buildings except Haltia have lifts and accessible toilets. Accessible toilets are signposted and also marked as gender-neutral toilets.
Lift buttons are marked with braille, and some lifts have audio guidance. Cloakrooms have storage space at different heights.
Accessible entrances and lifts are shown on the building floor plans:
Parking
The campuses have accessible parking. You can find the locations of accessible parking spaces in the Autoliitto (opens in a new tab) (Automobile and Touring Club of Finland) mobile app, which is free of charge and does not require the use of any other Autoliitto services.
Hearing loops
The largest teaching spaces on campus have fixed hearing loops:
Joensuu campus: auditoria M100, M101, M103 and AU100
Kuopio campus: lecture halls SN100, SN200, SN201, MD100, CA100, CA101, MS300, MS301, MS302
You can also borrow a portable hearing loop from the Oppari service desk:
- Joensuu – in the campus library (Carelia)
- Kuopio – in Canthia
For questions about hearing loops, contact the IT Service Desk:

Restaurants
Campus restaurants are generally accessible. The restaurant in Snellmania on Kuopio campus has a wheelchair lift.
If you need help with, for example, carrying your tray, the restaurant staff will be happy to assist you. If you have a special diet, contact the restaurant in advance.
Baby changing tables
Baby changing tables can be found in the accessible toilets.
Study and group work spaces
Almost all university spaces are available for self-study and group work through Tuudo. There are plenty of options.
