PrintAfter the public defence, the opponent will submit a statement on your dissertation, and you will have the opportunity to submit a response. The Faculty Council will then decide on the approval and grade of the dissertation.
Applying for the degree
You can apply for a doctoral degree when:
- your dissertation has been graded,
- all the studies required for the degree have been recorded in the study register, and
- your main supervisor has approved the studies for your degree. Instructions for completing the personal study plan (PSP for doctoral studies) can be found on the Kamu page.

The delivery time for the certificate is approximately three weeks from the date when the last completed study was recorded in the study register. During holiday periods and busy times, for example at the end of the calendar year or academic year, the delivery time may be longer than usual.
Validity of user accounts
After graduation, your UEF user account and the related access rights will expire. You can find more information about the expiration of access rights on the UEF Digital Services page under “I have or have had a UEF user account”.
