Flexible study right (JOO) studies refer to the national flexible study right agreement, which allowed students to include minor subject studies from other Finnish universities in their degree.
Finnish universities jointly decided to withdraw from the flexible study right agreement as of 1 January 2026.
If you have already been granted a flexible study right, it remains valid until the end of your study right period.
Teaching cooperation between universities has diversified, and cross-institutional study agreements offer you similar opportunities to choose studies from other higher education institutions in the future.
