Library and electronic resources

PrintLibrary services
As an Open University student, you have the same rights and responsibilities in the library as a degree student. You have access to the library’s printed and e-resources, 24/7 access to the library and much more.
Explore the library guide for new users – you will find answers to questions about, for example, library cards, distance learning, e-book availability and studying from another location.
Remote access to electronic resources
You can access the library’s e-resources remotely in two ways:
Directly via the remote access server
- Search for the resource you need in UEF Primo.
- Open the e-resource link from the search results.
- Log in to the remote access server with your UEF user account.
This way, you can access e-resources without logging in to UEF Primo separately.
By logging in to UEF Primo
When you log in to UEF Primo with your UEF username & password, you get more comprehensive search results. Some databases – such as Scopus, Web of Science and CAB Abstracts – only display content to logged-in users.
Once logged in, you can also use additional UEF Primo features, such as:
- renewing your loans
- saving favourites
- saving searches.
Read the UEF Primo user guide.
Printed materials and library card
You need a library card to borrow printed materials from the library. Logging in to UEF Primo makes no difference when searching for printed materials.
