Please read the following information before browsing the list of exchange destinations.

Exchange destinations and degree level

The number after each host university’s name indicates which degree level the placement is intended for:

1 = bachelor’s level
2 = master’s level
3 = doctoral level

The degree level may affect which courses are available to you at the host university.

How do I choose where to apply?

Apply primarily for placements listed under your own major’s department or school. You may also apply for placements under your minor as a secondary applicant – students majoring in the subject at each department or school always have priority.

If applying through your minor:

  • You must have started your minor studies (completed courses in the registry).
  • Your minor must be included in an approved PSP.
  • Students majoring in the subject always have priority.
  • Many universities do not accept students from outside the agreed field.

In some subjects, you can apply more broadly:

  • Education: You may apply for all education field destinations (applied educational sciences and teacher education, educational sciences, adult education and career counselling, special education) as a major subject student.
  • Health promotion: You may apply for public health and clinical nutrition destinations.
  • Sports and exercise medicine: You may also apply for biomedical science destinations.
  • Logopedics: You may apply for Finnish language and cultural studies destinations, and as a minor subject applicant for linguistics and psychology destinations.
  • Sustainable technologies: You may apply for chemistry, forestry and computer science destinations.

Non-EU/EEA students: Before applying, discuss with your study programme coordinator whether an exchange period could extend your studies and/or affect your tuition fees at UEF.

Language requirements

If the host university requires proficiency in a specific language at a specific level (e.g. French B1–B2), you must meet this requirement to be eligible for that destination.

Note that even if a destination has no specific language requirement listed, it is your responsibility to verify that the host university offers courses in a language you have sufficient skills in.

Employment at UEF

You must not have a valid employment contract at UEF during any part of the exchange period. You can apply for exchange while employed, but your contract must end before the exchange begins.
