Applying for your degree

Once your dissertation has been approved and you have completed all other studies required for the doctoral degree, you can apply for your degree. Complete the Application for a Doctoral Degree form (UEF login required).

The delivery time for the certificate is approximately three weeks from the date the application is received or the last study attainment is recorded in the study register. Please note that during holiday periods and busy periods, such as the end of the calendar year or academic year, the delivery time may be longer than usual.

Validity of user accounts

After graduation, your UEF user account and related access rights will expire. You can find more information about the expiry of access rights on the UEF Intranet (opens in a new tab) and on the Digital Services page under “Access rights of degree students”.

Alumni network and alumni study right

After graduating from UEF, you can join the University of Eastern Finland alumni network. You can also supplement your studies with an alumni study right. The alumni study right is free of charge and can be activated as soon as your graduation is recorded in Peppi.

UEF graduation ceremony and doctoral conferment ceremony

You can celebrate your graduation by attending the UEF graduation ceremony (in Finnish: publiikki) and the doctoral conferment ceremony.
