Congratulations on your acceptance to the University of Eastern Finland! We are excited to have you on board.
Being a new student, you are bound to have questions. These pages contain all the necessary information you need to get started with your studies at UEF, from planning your journey to Finland to the first week of your studies. A short welcome video from our Rectors.
Keep in touch with your student tutor who will contact you a few weeks before the beginning of the semester. Inform your student tutor about your arrival details. Please note that if you are a trainee and arrive during the university holiday period, a staff member from the research group might be welcoming you instead of a student tutor.
Register at the university. But before registering check the services of the Student Union and if you wish to use them, join the Student Union by paying the fee.
Confirm your study place as soon as possible but no later than 15 May.
Sign and return your Student Agreement (and the Scholarship Agreement if you have received a scholarship) by 15 May.
Non-EU/EEA students: pay the first instalment of your tuition fee unless you have been given an exemption from it.
It is possible to register as a student at UEF at this point if you can pay the Student Union membership fee on-line. If you cannot pay the fee on-line, you can register as a university student after your arrival on campus. Student Union information for new students.
Find out if you need a residence permit for your studies in Finland and if needed, submit you application immediately.
