Open University studies are mostly open to everyone. Some studies have a limited number of places, a separate application process or a specific registration period. Certain studies may require previous studies or other selection criteria.
You will need the same study skills as for university studies in general, including a good command of Finnish. Studies often include literature in English, and some courses are taught in English. Check the language requirements in the course details.
How to enrol
You receive your study right when you enrol in a course or study module and pay the tuition fee. You can enrol through the continuous learning application service or Studyinfo.
- Choose your studies. Search for the course you want in the course offerings and open the course details by clicking on the course name. You will find the enrolment button at the bottom of the page – the button will take you to the enrolment service, where the course is already pre-selected. Select “Add to study cart”. You can add other studies to your cart before continuing.
- Check your cart and accept the terms. Go to your study cart, where you will see the studies you have selected and the total tuition fee. Accept the enrolment and payment terms and continue.
- Identify yourself, fill in your details and pay the tuition fee. Identify yourself using Suomi.fi e-Identification and fill in your personal details. Pay the tuition fee online.
- Read the getting started instructions. The processing time for your enrolment is usually 2–5 working days, with a maximum of 10 working days. Once your enrolment has been processed, you will receive an email with a link to the getting started instructions. Read the instructions carefully. You can activate your UEF user account at the earliest on the day after you receive the instructions.
Your enrolment is binding. Please read the enrolment and payment terms.
Please note about your study right
Your study right is fixed-term and applies to the studies you have enrolled in. You complete your studies according to the schedule of the course. Please note that the actual time to complete the studies may be shorter than the duration of your study right.
