How to apply for your degree certificate
Make sure you are registered as present when you apply for your degree.
- Check any instructions specific to your degree programme in your study community.
- Make sure all your studies are completed and recorded in Peppi.
The academic affairs specialist/amanuensis at your department/subject will help you check your studies and compile your study modules. Request completion marks for minor subject modules from the unit providing the minor.
- Complete the online degree certificate application as instructed in the UEF e-Services (login required).
It is a good idea to leave any credits exceeding the degree requirements outside your degree, as you may need them later for another degree. For example, it is usually best to take your bachelor’s degree at the minimum number of credits.
- Download the certificate from Peppi or via the link sent to your email and save it in a secure location. You will receive an email notification when the certificate is ready for download.
Note: Your graduation will be visible in Peppi before the degree certificate is ready.
How to verify the validity of digital signatures of documents downloaded from Peppi
You can verify the digital signature of documents downloaded from Peppi using Atomi Validator. Separate verification is not required for a digital degree certificate.
Key deadlines
To make sure you graduate by the end of the semester, note the following deadlines:
Spring semester
- Submit your master’s thesis for review by 30 April at the latest.
- Submit your degree certificate application by 31 May at the latest.
Autumn semester
- Submit your master’s thesis for review by 31 October at the latest.
- Submit your degree certificate application by 30 November at the latest.
Applications received after these deadlines will be processed in order of arrival. In these cases, your certificate may not be ready before the end of the semester.
Also note that reviewing and grading your thesis takes time. More information on submitting, reviewing and grading your master’s thesis.
Your degree certificate will be issued within three weeks of receiving your application. At the end of the semester, processing times may be longer due to a high volume of applications.
The degree certificate is dated either on the day your application was received or the day your last study attainment was graded, whichever is later. Exceptions to this rule can be made in your favour, for example when the academic year changes or for other compelling reasons (e.g. applying for the right to practise a profession).
