What you will learn on the University Computing Skills course
The University Computing Skills course covers the following topics:
- UEF online services
- basic use of text processing, spreadsheet and presentation programmes (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
After completing the course, you will be able to:
- use computers to aid in your studies
- use the various online resources and services of the University of Eastern Finland
- use the Moodle online learning environment
- produce a text document using styles, a table of contents, tables, images, graphs, references and various headers and footers
- produce simple tables and calculations and utilise functions and formulas with a spreadsheet tool
- create presentation graphics using a presentation tool.
How to complete the University Computing Skills course
You can choose the completion method that suits you best:
- Skills assessment test – demonstrate your proficiency during the first course session.
- Course assignments – complete all assignments with passing grades.
- Final exam – pass the final exam or the final exam retake.
Good to know before enrolling
- You may substitute the course with an RPL (Recognition of Prior Learning) demonstration of proficiency only. This is possible by either taking the skills assessment test held during the first course session, or by passing the final exam or final exam retake.
- The course does not accept other forms of course substitution.
