School of Applied Educational Science and Teacher Education of the University of Eastern Finland together with the Karelia University of Applied Sciences organize a course that is aimed at enhancing knowledge and skills of intercultural competence in working life.
The course runs during an academic year, starting in September and finishing in May. Each 5 ECTS study module can also be taken separately. All study modules are online, with a face-to-face teaching depending on the course module. The working language of the course is English. This basic-level course is available to all degree students of the University of Eastern Finland and the Karelia University of Applied Sciences and to international exchange students in both institutions.
A successful learner from this programme will be able to name and describe the components of professional competence required in multicultural work communities. She/he will be able to explain and revise the meaning of intercultural competence in her/his profession. She/he will be able and motivated to develop her/his own professional intercultural competence and she/he will be able to employ her/his knowledge of intercultural competence in order to advance her/his work community.
