You can participate in short-term courses and summer or winter schools organised by Nordlys network partner universities in the Nordic Countries. Courses may be free of charge or have tuition or participation fees, depending on the organiser.
Some courses require a nomination from UEF before you can apply. If the course you are interested in requires a nomination, contact International Mobility Services: [email protected].
Short-term courses at Nordlys universities
Short-term courses organised by Nordlys network partners are announced on Viva Engage in the channel Kansainvälistymismahdollisuuksia opiskelijoille / Internationalisation offers for students (requires UEF login).

Nordplus mobility grants
Nordplus grants are available for summer and winter courses organised by the Nordlys network partners. The number of grants is limited.
Who can apply?
- Bachelor’s and master’s students of all fields
- You cannot have a valid employment contract at UEF during the course period
- You must be registered as a present degree student at UEF throughout the exchange period
- You cannot graduate before or during the exchange
- Studies completed during the exchange must be included in your UEF degree
Note:
- The grant is awarded once per student per degree level. On the recommendation of a PSP advisor, you may receive a second grant for another exchange.
- The grant is not available for doctoral students.
Applying for Nordplus grants, spring 2026
First, apply for the course or summer school you are interested in. Then apply for the grant. Grants are awarded in the order applications are received, and receiving the grant requires acceptance from the host university.
Application period: 19 January – 15 June 2026. The application period closes on 15 June at 3:00 PM sharp Finnish time.

How to apply:
Submit your application in the SoleMOVE system. Select “Short-Term Nordlys Grants” as the application period when starting your application.
Attach the following:
- Transcript of records (PDF from Peppi)
- One of the following:
- If you have applied for the course but have not yet received a response: a motivation letter (1xA4) describing the course contents and explaining why you wish to participate. Mention in the letter that you have already applied for the course.
- If you have been accepted for the course: a copy of your acceptance letter or acceptance notice.
Notes about the grant
- Nordplus grants are awarded primarily for short-term exchanges and courses (e.g. summer and winter schools) that provide credits and a transcript of records.
- Grants can also be awarded for short-term periods in the Nordic Countries that can be included in a course or study unit at UEF. In these cases, you will need a free-form statement from your subject’s amanuensis or course coordinator confirming that the period can be included in a credit-bearing study unit.
- The minimum duration for the exchange is 5 days and the maximum duration is 2 months.
Grant amount (in 2026)
The grant is comprised of a travel grant and accommodation grant. The total grant amount depends on the duration and host country.
Travel grant based on host country:
