The Faculty of Health Sciences grants travel funding for advanced scientific education. The travel funding can be applied for twice a year. Follow announcements on the TT Doctoral Programmes in the Faculty of Health Sciences Viva Engage channel.
The departments/schools of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Business Studies award travel grants for study, seminar and conference trips for doctoral researchers upon application. These travel grants are intended for doctoral researchers who are not employed by the University of Eastern Finland (including part-time work for grant-funded researchers).
Applications must be accompanied by:
- a statement of completion of the studies foreseen in the postgraduate study plan and an individual plan for the timetable for the missing studies
- approval from the supervisor to attend the event(s) (e-mail is acceptable)
The travel grants are awarded by the head of department/school. The application period is continuous. Applications will be processed within 1-2 months of receipt (excluding the summer vacation period).

Teaching and research staff employed at the Faculty of Social Sciences and Business Studies may apply for a incentive compensation to fund research work abroad for 1-12 months. Read more about YHKA Incentive Compensation (Mobility abroad) in UEF intranet (requires UEF login).
FILOTO Doctoral Programme awards travel grants for domestic and international conference and seminar trips upon application. Grants may be applied for by doctoral researchers of the Philosophical Faculty who are registered as present and who are not employed by the university. The application period for 2026 ends on 30 November. Grant applications are reviewed once a month, excluding the summer holiday period. Apply for the grant with this form.
