Dear University of Eastern Finland student,
We sincerely hope that the transition to distance learning caused by the coronavirus situation has been a smooth one for you. Moreover, we look forward to seeing you back on campus, safe and sound, after the state of emergency eventually gets lifted in the future. The university’s facilities will remain closed until the Finnish authorities deem it safe to reopen them. The Finnish Government decided on 30 March 2020 to continue the exceptional arrangements in education until 13 May 2020, and the Government is also preparing to extend these exceptional arrangements until the end of term, if this is deemed necessary for containing the epidemic. This means that the facilities of the University of Eastern Finland will remain closed, and teaching and working continues online.
Please follow the university’s coronavirus website at www.uef.fi/koronavirus as well as the coronavirus page here in Kamu at https://kamu.uef.fi/en/student-book/coronavirus/. In Kamu, you can also find support and instructions relating to distance learning.
Right now, we understand that you may feel anxiety, and you may also worry about your financial situation. We have gathered a list of providers of help you can turn to in different life crises. The list is available in Kamu: https://kamu.uef.fi/en/student-book/help-in-crises/.
Despite physical distancing, it is important to stay in touch with your fellow students and with your near and dear ones. We encourage distance socialising!
Keep calm and stay online #etäsuomenyliopisto
