In September 2025, the University of Eastern Finland conducted a survey among its students to evaluate Kamu’s usability, content, and development needs.
According to the survey, the most sought information in Kamu relates to study planning, study administration instructions, and practical matters such as facilities, IT services, and lunch options.
Among different content formats, students preferred exact information, such as links to the most important electronic services, precise written instructions, and guides.
Kamu is generally considered easy to use. However, information findability could be improved – 27% of respondents reported finding the needed information almost always, 60% sometimes, and 13% hardly ever.
Development suggestions focused on improving the search function, simplifying the information retrieval process, and providing clearer navigation paths. The Tools section and the visibility of the news releases were rated as working particularly well – all respondents agreed at least partially on these points.
Most respondents use Kamu regularly: 38% weekly and 33% monthly. The majority use the service in Finnish, and a computer is by far the most common device.
The survey collected 128 responses. The results provide valuable insights for further developing Kamu to better support students’ everyday life.
Respondents had the opportunity to participate in a draw for three UEF online store gift cards. The winners have been drawn and the prizes have been sent to them. Thank you to all participants!
