Doctoral graduation at the Faculty of Science, Forestry and Technology
Last modified: 07.08.2026
PrintAfter the public examination, the opponent submits a statement on your dissertation, and you have the opportunity to submit a response to it. The faculty then decides on the approval and grade of your dissertation. After this, the Faculty Council or, between semesters, the Vice Dean (Research) will grade your dissertation. The Faculty shall provide a digital degree certificate for your completed degree.
Applying for your degree
Once your doctoral dissertation and all other studies required for the degree have been registered in the study attainment register, you can apply for your doctoral degree. Complete the Application for a doctoral degree certificate form (requires login). If you have any questions about the application form, contact the faculty’s Academic Affairs Specialists at [email protected].
Your degree certificate will be issued within three weeks of receiving your application. At the end of the semester, processing times may be longer due to a high volume of applications. The degree certificate is dated either on the day your application was received or the day your last study attainment or doctoral dissertation was graded, whichever is later. You will receive an email notification when the certificate is ready for download. Download the certificate from Peppi or via the link sent to your email and save it in a secure location. Please note that your graduation will be visible in Peppi before the degree certificate is ready. If you have any questions about the doctoral degree certificate, contact Academic Affairs Secretary Aada Kokkonen.
