Students at the University of Eastern Finland may participate in short-term courses organised by Nordlys network partner universities. These courses may be free of charge or may have tuition or participation fees, depending on the organiser. Some courses may require a nomination from the home university before students can apply: if the course you are interested in requires a nomination, please contact International Mobility Services.
Nordplus mobility grants
Nordlys grants will be made available for bachelor and master’s level students participating in Nordlys network winter/summer courses. Grants are not available to doctoral students or those with an employment contract at UEF. The number of grants is limited, so an individual student is eligible to receive one Nordplus grant for one course or summer school. It is not possible to receive a second Nordplus grant for another course/summer school. NB! An individual student is eligible to be awarded the grant only once.
Nordplus grant application period in spring 2025
Grant applications can be submitted during the application period: 7 – 16 May 2025. Application period closes on 16 May at 3:00 PM sharp Finnish time. More information about applying for the grant is available on the Calls for Applications page.
Applications can be submitted in the SoleMOVE system. Select “Nordlys Short-Term Grants Summer 2025” as the application period when starting a new application. As attachments, you will need your transcript of records (PDF from Peppi) and one of the following:
- A copy of the host university’s confirmation/acceptance letter to the course or summer school
- A motivation letter (length 1 A4), where you describe the course contents and discuss why you wish to participate to the course. It is also good to mention if you have already submitted an application for the course if you are still waiting for the host university’s decision on admission.
Notes
Nordplus grants will be awarded primarily for short-term exchanges and courses (for example winter or summer courses at partner universities) from which students will gain credits. Grants can also be awarded for short-term exchanges in the Nordics that can be included into a course or study unit that awards credits at the University of Eastern Finland. In these cases, students should submit a free-form statement from their subject’s amanuensis or teacher that the exchange can be included into a study unit/course.
The minimum duration for the exchange is 5 days and maximum duration 2 months. The total amount of grant awarded will be based on the duration and host country. Exact grant amounts will be announced in the call for applications.
Short-term courses organized by Nordlys network partners will be announced in Viva Engage: Kansainvälistymismahdollisuuksia opiskelijoille / Internationalisation offers for students (requires UEF login). Courses listed in Viva Engage can also be found in the table at the bottom of this page.
