Students from the following groups, among others, pursue non-degree studies:
- students enrolled in training for a specialisation in medicine, dentistry or general practice, and students training to become medical physicists or medical chemists;
- students enrolled in the certificate programme for special education teachers, certificate programme for kindergarten special education teachers or qualification studies for career counsellors;
- students enrolled in specialisation training;
- flexible study right students
Non-degree students cannot become members of the student union, which means that they are not entitled to the student benefits. An exception to this involves students who are studying full-time in a certificate programme for special education teachers, in a certificate programme for kindergarten special education teachers, those studying to become career counsellors, and exchange students. If they so choose, they can become members of the university’s student union by paying the student union membership fee. NOTE! Starting on 1 August 2017, the right of students enrolled in the certificate programme for special education teachers, certificate programme for kindergarten special education teachers or qualification studies for career counsellors to use the services of FSHS will be removed, which means that if they want to become members of the student union, the portion of their membership fee attributable to FSHS will be substracted from the membership fee.
After the study right has been granted
When the right to study is granted to you, you will also receive instructions attached to the decision on how to register at the university . You register by delivering the registration form to Student and Learning Services either in person or by post.
Print the registration form (PDF)
The unit arranging the specialisation studies will send registration instructions to the selected students. The faculty delivers the decision on the study right for information to Student and Learning Services. The study right is recorded in the student register based on the decision.
All students will need a UEF account/username for logging into the university network, WebOodi and their e-mail. If you have completed your Master’s degree at the University of Eastern Finland, you can continue to use your account. If you do not have an account, you need to activate it on the university’s website using your online banking codes.

Registration in future academic years
The academic year starts on 1 August and ends on 31 July. Students must register as present or absent for every academic year, unless the registration at the beginning of the studies covers the entire duration of studies (fixed-term qualification studies).
Students specialising in medicine, dentistry or general practice must register as present or absent at the university every academic year either electronically in WebOodi, by email (opiskelu(at)uef.fi) or by phone (+358 29 445 8900) to Student and Learning Services. Use your UEF username and password to log in to WebOodi and complete the registration process under the section ‘Tools’ -> ‘Annual registration’.
With study rights for fixed-term qualification studies (such as those granted to flexible study right students and students completing specialisation studies), registration at the beginning of the studies covers the entire duration of studies, which means that such students do not need to register separately for each academic year.
The registration period is 2 May–15 September.
