What to do before returning back home?
Here you will find instructions on what to do before finishing your exchange with us and returning back home. Please do not leave the campus city before contacting the International Mobility Services (Päivi Haltilahti in Joensuu or Kirsi Konttinen in Kuopio).
Housing
- Give notice to end your student housing lease at least one FULL calendar month before you leave. For example if you wish to leave in May, please inform the housing company during April.
- Make sure you will clean the apartment properly (according to the instructions Elli/Kuopas has given) before leaving. You will lose your deposit if the apartment is not clean.
- Don’t forget to return your keys.
Documents
- The Learning Agreement is signed at your department. Please contact your departmental coordinator if your LA has changed and it needs to to be signed.
- You can get a digitally signed UEF transcript of records (listing all the courses you have completed during your exchange at UEF) from Peppi (choose Atomi). More information on the digitally signed transcript (opens in a new tab)
- You will have access to Peppi for 4 months after your study right expires. If you need a transcript later or if your home university doesn’t accept the digitally signed transcript, please contact us at opiskelu@uef.fi.
- Usually everybody needs a Letter of Confirmation proving the length of the exchange (starting and finishing date).
- Check with your home university if they have a form we should use. If not, we can use the UEF one. For getting the signatures for the Letter of Confirmations, please visit Päivi Haltilahti in the Student Services in the Aurora Building in Joensuu or Kirsi Konttinen in Oppari in the Canthia Building in Kuopio. Päivi and Kirsi will send the detailed instructions and schedules by email.
- You can have the Letter of Confirmation only within 7 days before your departure. We cannot sign it earlier. If you wish us to state that you have been here until 13 Dec, the earliest possible date for the signature is 9 Dec because 6 Dec is Finland’s Independence Day and it is a public holiday. Please note that your home university may have different rules for the dates for their documents and you should follow their rules.
- The official finishing date of the Autumn Semester is 13 December. That is usually the latest possible date in your Letter of Confirmation unless you are admitted for a longer period of study/traineeship with us.
