Registration instructions for International Master's Degree students who start their studies in the spring 2021 semester

International master’s degree programme students who start their studies in the spring 2021 semester must register by 15 January 2021. These instructions apply to both students whose study right begins 1 January 2021 and students who were granted a deferment of the start of their studies from the autumn 2020 semester to the spring 2021 semester due to issues caused by the coronavirus pandemic. If you are required to pay a tuition fee, you must pay the tuition fee before you can register. The following instructions are for registering as present (attending) because you can only register as absent (opens in a new tab) on the first academic year of your studies if you have legal grounds for absence. To register as present, please follow these instructions:

1. Pay the student union membership fee

Pay the student union membership fee either via online banking or in your local bank. Please note that you are responsible for any possible transfer fees or service fees your bank may charge.

Send a copy of the payment receipt to the Student and Learning Services at opiskelu@uef.fi. The payment receipt must state the amount paid as well as the recipient’s name and bank account number.

2. Fill out the registration form

Fill out the registration form (docx) (opens in a new tab). Send the filled-out registration form to opiskelu@uef.fi.

3. Provide proof of your identity

Please contact opiskelu@uef.fi, and we will instruct you on how to provide proof of your identity.

 

Once you have paid the student union membership fee, sent the receipt and the filled-out registration form to opiskelu@uef.fi and provided proof of your identity, you will be registered as present for the spring 2021 semester.

 

NOTE! If you are unable to register via email as instructed above, you can send the required documents by mail (postal address below). We strongly recommend that you register remotely. However, if you are unable to register remotely, and wish to register in person on campus, please observe the restrictions during the coronavirus epidemic (opens in a new tab) as stated by the Finnish Government as well as the guidelines for visiting the campus buildings (opens in a new tab) by the University of Eastern Finland. Please note that you may not enter the university's facilities for 10 days following your arrival in Finland.

 

Healthcare fee for students in higher education

In addition to registering, you must pay the healthcare fee for students in higher education (opens in a new tab) by 31 January 2021. The fee is based on the Act on Student Health Services for Students in Higher Education (Finnish) (opens in a new tab).
