Apply for Talent Hub Eastern Finland mentoring program: Opportunity to network with companies and professionals!

Annually recurring mentoring program helps students get to know Finnish working life and build their networks. Mentors are individual professionals and employer organisations from several different professional fields. Mentoring is carried out in small groups. The mentoring language will be English.

Mentoring can help you find your strengths and areas for development and encourage you to take on new challenges. Also, the mentors can get new energy and fresh perspectives to their work through students. Your mentor may also act as a referee in your future job hunt. By taking part in the mentoring program, you will improve your skills and knowledge in

  • job search and getting to know different career options and paths
  • getting to know interesting employer organisations
  • developing professional expertise and finding your strengths
  • communication and interaction with others
  • building professional networks
  • developing self-confidence and self-knowledge

In addition to the mentor’s support, mentoring gives peer support and new views on topics discussed in the group. What do we expect from you?

As an actor, we expect you to

  • commit to the mentoring program and group meetings
  • take an active role in the group
  • share your expectations and goals with other participants
  • to understand that mentoring is about sharing working life experiences and spurring you in the first steps of your career, not getting a job offer or an internship from a mentor

How to apply?

Application for group mentoring program is open until 30.9.2026. Students and other talents affiliated in Eastern Finland are eligible to apply.

In group mentoring programme you need to be ready actively plan your future and share your career aims in a group. In addition, you commit to take part in mentoring meetings from November to May approximately once a month.

Timeline for the mentoring programme

  • Online mentoring training on Monday, 19.10.2026 at 14–16 (Session will be recorded)
  • On-site programme kick-off event in Kuopio, Tuesday 27.10.2026, and in Joensuu, Thursday 29.10.2026, at 14–16 (Your presence is obligatory as you will meet your mentor and other group members here)
  • Meetings agreed with your own small group (during November 2026–May 2027). You can agree with your mentor group on whether to hold face-to-face or remote meetings (4–6 meetings are recommended).
  • On-site spring meeting on Thursday, 29.4.2027 at 14–16

IT Servicedesk and Oppari opening hours will be standardized as of 31 August 2026 

From 31 August 2026 onwards, IT Servicedesk and Oppari will serve customers on both campuses Monday to Friday from 9.00 to 15.00. 

In addition, Oppari  offers extended afternoon service: Monday to Friday until 18.00, and on Saturdays from 10.00 to 14.00. 

Outside these opening hours, you can use other self-study facilities. More information: Self-study facilities – UEF Kamu

In Kuopio, the laptop lending machine has been moved outside of the Oppari facilities. More information: IT device lending machines – UEF Kamu
