Library offices will move to the opening hours of the autumn term on Monday, September 1, 2025.
Joensuu and Kuopio Campus Library facilities are open between 8–18 on weekdays and 10–14 on Saturdays. The first hours of weekday mornings are self-service hours. From Monday to Saturday customer service starts at 10 a.m.
Please note that KUH Medical Library will open on business days later than usual. The Medical Library is open between 13–17 on Mondays and between 11–15 from Tuesday to Thursday.
24/7 Self-study facilities are open normally for the rest of the year, also during holidays.

Data management for undergraduate students online course
Starting your thesis, advanced studies project, or diploma work?
Do you know what research data is and what good data management looks like? How about keeping track of, organizing, or storing your research data in a way that makes it easy for others to use the data? How should you name your files?
Help with all of this is available through the online course Data management for undergraduate students (1 ECTS credit), which you can complete at your own pace throughout the academic year. Learning good data management practices will not only support your thesis work but also benefit you in your future career.

Welcome to UEF library’s Zotero trainings!
Three trainings with the same content about the Zotero reference management software
Each training introduces the basic functions of the Zotero reference management software and how to use the Zotero Word Plugin. The trainings will be held on Teams. Dates, times and event links below. Registration in advance is not needed.
Before the training session, if you wish, you can install Zotero on your computer. See library’s instructions. After that you can already start using Zotero.

National Repository Library services available again
The relocation of the National Repository Library to its new premises has been completed. You can once again request materials from the National Repository Library through our Interlibrary Services.
Please note that materials borrowed from the National Repository Library before the closure were renewed with an extended loan period to cover the closure. As usual, we will send a separate reminder message to our customers when the borrowed interlibrary materials are due.

Outages on UEF Primo, self-service lending and returning, and some of Tuudo’s operations 12.–13.7.
UEF Primo and the library system Alma have a downtime from Sat 12 July to Sun 13 July. During the break, UEF Primo is completely out of service. In addition, self-check machines are also out of use, and borrowing or returning is not possible during the library’s self-service hours. In Tuudo, the downtime affects the renewal of loans and the registration of new customers.
Floor waxing will affect the use of Joensuu Campus Library on the morning of 28 June 2025
SOL Services will be performing floor waxing of the 1st floor of the Joensuu Campus Library on Saturday 28 June 2025, starting at 4:00 AM. The estimated duration of the work is until 10:00 AM. During the waxing, there may be noise and odor disturbances. Certain areas on the 1st floor of the library will need to be off limits to walking during the drying time of the waxed surface.
Midsummer opening hours at the libraries
Thursday 19 June Joensuu and Kuopio Campus Libraries are open 8–13 (customer service 10–13) and KUH Medical Library 10–13. On Friday 20 June, all offices are closed.
The library’s 24/7 facilities are available throughout Midsummer.
Library services in the summer of 2025
Summer peeks around the corner! Summer opening hours will take effect as early as next week, starting 26 May. See our news for more details on both summer norms and exceptions.
Several exceptions to library opening hours in May
Joensuu Campus Library is closed on Thursday 22 and Friday 23 May 2025 due to library’s development and staff wellbeing days. However, the facilities are available to customers with a personal 24/7 access badge. Kuopio Campus Library and KUH Medical Library are open normally.
Due to Ascension Day, all library offices will close on Wednesday 28 May 2025 as early as 1 pm and will be closed on Thursday 29 May 2025.
The slightly narrower opening hours of the summer will take effect at all library offices from Monday 26 May 2025. You can find them, and the exceptional opening hours mentioned above, on our website.
Library celebrates Pride
We have been organizing book displays during the North Karelia and Kuopio Pride weeks for years. We received funding from UEF to support equity and diversity. Now we can take the Pride celebration to new heights!
Visit our traditional Pride book displays at our campus libraries and UEF Primo starting today. You can also now borrow a Pride flag for your celebrations! Flags are available in limited quantities at our customer service desk until the end of June. The loan period is 14 days.
Today also marks the start of our book recommendation campaign, where you can share your LGBTIQ+-themed reading tips during 5.5.-15.5.! Participate with this form. We will share recommendations anonymously on Instagram stories. Recommendations can be submitted anonymously, but (if you are a UEF student or staff member) by providing your contact information on a separate form, you can enter a raffle to win prizes fitting to the theme. The raffle rules can be found on the participation form.
