PrintYou will use several digital services and tools during your studies. On this page you will find a summary of the most important services and links to further instructions.
Learning platforms and study tools
- eServices is service channel, where you can request support for different services and report any problems
- Draft Coach helps you while you are still writing. It works in Word Online and checks the originality of your text and citations. You can also use an English language proofreading tool if you are writing in English. You can activate Draft Coach in the Microsoft 365 environment.
- Microsoft 365 Copilot -provides you with email (Outlook), cloud storage (OneDrive), Teams-communication platform, Copilot-generative AI assistant and other Office applications.
- Moodle (eLearn Moodle and DigiCampus-Moodle) is your main learning platform. You will find course materials, assignments and discussion forums there.
- Study communities is a place for you and other students from the same department, unit, major or program. There you will find information and guidance specifically tailored to your studies.
- Tuudo-mobile app brings together your most important study services in one place on your phone. For example, you can check your schedule, track your academic performance, or view restaurant menus.
- UEF Intra is the internal online environment of the University of Eastern Finland, where you can find all the university’s internal information, instructions, services and current news.
- Zoom is a video conferencing tool used for remote lectures and group work, among other things.
Networks and Printing
- Eduroam is a wireless network used on UEF campuses. It is UEF’s primary wireless network for students and visitors. It is secure, free and works both on UEF campuses and at thousands of other educational institutions around the world. You log in to eduroam with your UEF ID.
- Printing on campus is based on a centralized printing system. You do not send printouts to individual devices but instead add them to your own printing account and can then print documents from any university printer by logging in with your own credentials. Printers can be found at Oppari and in libraries in both Joensuu and Kuopio.
Exams and assessment
- Exam is an electronic exam system widely used in Finnish universities. It allows you to take exams flexibly in camera-monitored EXAM -rooms at a time of your choice.
- SEB (Safe exam browser) is a secure exam environment that locks the student’s computer so that they cannot access other applications, files, or websites during the exam.
- Turnitin is a plagiarism detection system used through Moodle. When submitting written work, your teacher may direct you to use Turnitin.
Surveys and Interactive Tools
- Forms is part of the Microsoft 365 environment and allows you to create online surveys.
- Webropol is another tool for creating online surveys.
- Mentimeter is an interactive tool for polls, word clouds and voting. You log in to Mentimeter with your UEF credentials.
- Padlet is an interactive board application for collecting, organising and sharing ideas and observations.
- ThingLink allows you to create interactive learning experiences from images, videos, 360° media and 3D models. You log in to ThingLink using the Microsoft button.

When you need help using digital services:
- Eduhouse is an online learning platform available to students, offering a wide range of courses on digital skills, Microsoft 365 programs, artificial intelligence, and work-life skills, among other things.

- Panopto is where you can find guide videos related to university services.
- Artificial intelligence can be used as part of your studies, as long as you follow the university’s instructions and act openly and responsibly.
