We are invoicing unpaid overdue and reservation fees in the beginning of November. We send the bills by e-mail. You can avoid the invoicing by paying your fees before that. Web payment on UEF Primo is a quick and easy way to pay the fees online. It is possible if the amount of fees is at least one euro. You can also pay the fees at the Joensuu and Kuopio campus libraries’ customer service with a payment card. Payment is not possible in the KUH Medical Library because there is no cash service.
If necessary, you can ask about your payments by sending an email to library@uef.fi.
Every year, UEF Library raffles off a grant among UEF students who published their master’s thesis open access. This time 120 students signed up for the raffle and the Fortune smiled on Mirkka Rovamo.
Also each year, during the Open Science Week a UEFian is awarded as the contributor for open science and open access. The award was now given for the ninth time and handed over to Saimaa ringed seal research.
Read more about the award and the grant at UEF Library blog.
Joensuu and Kuopio Campus Libraries are open on Friday 1st November 2024 8am–1pm, customer service 10am–1pm. On Saturday 2nd November 2024 the libraries are closed.
The 24/7 self-study facilities of Campus Libraries are open despite these exceptions.
Recently the library has received feedback on the use of sound. We want to remind you that Joensuu campus library uses Sound zones. Due to feedback, we monitor the implementation of them in an enhanced manner. Quiet working conditions are our shared concern and everyone has the right to interfere if needed. If the noise level gets out of hand, please immediately notify the person. If necessary, you can always ask help from the library staff.
In addition, we remind you of moderation in the use of perfumes and fragrances also in the library. The number of people using our premises every day is high and many of them get symptoms from smells and scents. At worst, smell sensitivity can cause a fragrance-induced episode of illness.
Our daily actions have a great impact on everyone’s well-being. Please do your share with making our library a more comfortable environment for the people sitting next to you as well.
The library is investigating various platform solutions for UEF’s open educational resources. We need your input for this study, UEF member!
The goal is to find a user-friendly and modern platform for creating, publishing, and using open educational resources. This new platform would gather UEF’s open educational resources in one place for learners to find and use, complementing the existing learning environments.
Every year, UEF Library raffles off a grant worth EUR 100 among UEF students who have made their master’s (level) thesis publicly available that same year.
The grant will be raffled off a couple of weeks before the international Open Access Week among all UEF students who have since the last raffle made their master’s thesis publicly available on UEF eRepo and who sign up for the raffle using this form.
You haven’t limited or aren’t going to limit your own work beyond open science, have you?
Good luck!
