Thursday 19 June Joensuu and Kuopio Campus Libraries are open 8–13 (customer service 10–13) and KUH Medical Library 10–13. On Friday 20 June, all offices are closed.
The library’s 24/7 facilities are available throughout Midsummer.

Summer peeks around the corner! Summer opening hours will take effect as early as next week, starting 26 May. See our news for more details on both summer norms and exceptions.
Several exceptions to library opening hours in May
Joensuu Campus Library is closed on Thursday 22 and Friday 23 May 2025 due to library’s development and staff wellbeing days. However, the facilities are available to customers with a personal 24/7 access badge. Kuopio Campus Library and KUH Medical Library are open normally.
Due to Ascension Day, all library offices will close on Wednesday 28 May 2025 as early as 1 pm and will be closed on Thursday 29 May 2025.
The slightly narrower opening hours of the summer will take effect at all library offices from Monday 26 May 2025. You can find them, and the exceptional opening hours mentioned above, on our website.
Library celebrates Pride
We have been organizing book displays during the North Karelia and Kuopio Pride weeks for years. We received funding from UEF to support equity and diversity. Now we can take the Pride celebration to new heights!
Visit our traditional Pride book displays at our campus libraries and UEF Primo starting today. You can also now borrow a Pride flag for your celebrations! Flags are available in limited quantities at our customer service desk until the end of June. The loan period is 14 days.
Today also marks the start of our book recommendation campaign, where you can share your LGBTIQ+-themed reading tips during 5.5.-15.5.! Participate with this form. We will share recommendations anonymously on Instagram stories. Recommendations can be submitted anonymously, but (if you are a UEF student or staff member) by providing your contact information on a separate form, you can enter a raffle to win prizes fitting to the theme. The raffle rules can be found on the participation form.

May Day opening hours at the library
Joensuu and Kuopio campus libraries are open on Wednesday 30 April 2025 from 8 am to 1 pm (Customer service from 10 am to 1 pm) and KUH Medical Library from 10 am to 1 pm. All libraries are closed on Thursday, May 1, 2025.
The 24/7 self-study facilities are open despite these exceptions.

Easter opening hours at the library
Joensuu and Kuopio campus libraries are open on Thursday 17th April between 8 am and 1 pm (customer service from 10 am to 1 pm) and closed from Friday 18th April to Monday 21st April.
The library’s 24/7 self-study facilities are open normally.
KUH Medical Library is open on Thursday 17th April between 10 am and 1 pm and closed on Monday 21st April.
The library is invoicing overdue and reservation fees at the end of March
We are invoicing unpaid overdue and reservation fees at the end of March. We send the bills by e-mail. You can avoid the invoicing by paying your fees in advance on UEF Primo or at Joensuu or Kuopio campus library. The minimum limit for online payment is 1 euro, a payment card is accepted on the spot. Creating a new library card on Tuudo is not possible from 11th to 13th March 2025
Creating a new library card i.e. registering as a library customer is not possible on Tuudo mobile app from Tuesday 11th to Thursday 13th March 2025. There can be problems with creating a new library card on Tuudo also shortly after that.
This is caused by a major service interruption on Peppi. During the interruption please use the registration form on the library’s website. We are sorry for the inconvenience. Look for more information about the Peppi service interruption on the UEF Students Viva Engage channel.
