For traineeships based in Europe, Erasmus+ funding is primarily used for student grants. Erasmus+ traineeship grant is applied from International Mobility Services. If you have any questions related to Erasmus+ traineeship, please contact international@uef.fi.
For traineeships outside of the EU and Erasmus+ programme, students may apply for traineeship support from their own faculty and department. If you have questions related to support awarded by faculties, please contact your departmental contact for traineeships. A list of departmental contact persons is available in Kamu in Finnish.
Erasmus funding or international traineeship support is not granted to students who receive other financial support from the UEF at the same time, or, for example, traineeship funding granted by the Finnish National Agency for Education (EDUFI, formerly CIMO).
International traineeship support from UEF
- Support is awarded for traineeships that are a minimum of 2 months in duration
- The traineeship position must be full-time, min. 30 hours a week
- Traineeships can take place in companies as well as private and public organisations
- Faculties and departments at UEF decide independently on the amount of support/grants available. Foreign employers are not generally expected to offer paid traineeships, as this may negatively affect the student’s chances of securing a traineeship placement.
For which study fields is support available?
- Bachelor and Master’s degree students from all study fields may apply for international traineeship support
For whom?
- The traineeship should be included into the student’s degree as either mandatory or voluntary part of the degree.
- The student must receive credits for the traineeship, depending on the content and duration of the traineeship, once they have completed the traineeship according to the study plan, for example by writing a traineeship report or similar according to the instructions from their department
- An individual student may receive traineeship support to Finland and abroad only once per degree
Agreements
- An agreement of traineeship placement must be made between the student, the employer, and the student’s department at UEF. The agreement should include information about the duration, content, guidance/advising during the traineeship and liability insurance.
- Each department at UEF has a named traineeship contact person who approves traineeship placements and makes sure, that the traineeship fulfills criteria set for a traineeship that is to be included into the student’ degree. The departmental contact person should also be a point of contact at UEF for the employer and assist the student with the traineeship agreement.
