How is it already almost November? So far many of you have already been in contact with the library or visited the campus libraries. In case you haven’t, we put together some instructions for library use in UEF Library blog.
The library is open on Friday 30th October 2020 8am-4pm. On Saturday 31st October 2020 the library is closed.
Every year, UEF Library raffles off a grant worth EUR 100 among UEF students who have made their master’s thesis publicly available that same year.
The 2020 grant will be given on the international Open Access Week, 19–25 October 2020. The grant will be raffled off among all UEF students who have made their master’s thesis publicly available through the UEF ePublications archive between 19th October 2019 and 11th October 2020 and who sign up for the raffle using this form.
Sign up by submitting the electronic form no later than 11th October 2020.
Library facilities are open mainly for brief visits, such as borrowing and returning on the principle of self-service. The exceptional pickup service of books for uefians has ceased.
Reservations can be made normally in UEF Primo and they are subject to charge in accordance with the service fees. Reserved books will be picked from the self-service reservation shelf by a number ID. You can see your personal, permanent requester ID from the email notification.
A library card that has been pre-ordered online can be picked up from the library’s customer service.
There are a limited number of reading spots in use. The reading spots are intended for use of material that cannot be borrowed outside the library. The hygiene and safety guidelines of the university must be followed in the library premises.
For now, the group working spaces and the Carelia 24/7 facilities in Joensuus are not in use.
Customer computers in Joensuu campus library and KUH medical library can be used following the hygiene and safety guidelines. The customer computers in renovated Kuopio campus library will soon be available too.
The courses and other training sessions of the library will be organised online.

The university’s website reform will affect the library from the 1st of September. The library’s pages will then have the same layout as most of UEF pages. The same contents will be available in a more accessible format.
