Participate YUFETHON 2024 online event, 25 & 26 of October

What is YUFETHON? It is an online event organised by the YUFE Alliance, where students from the partner universities come together for two days (20 hours) to work intensively to find a solution to a specific problem. YUFETHON is open to all UEF degree students who take part in the Open YUFE programme.

Each student enrolls in YUFETHON individually and then joins a team of their preference. Participants will work in small groups, in English, and in a way that encourages creative thinking and will result in new and innovative ideas.

Prize: A Golden Pass to the YUFE Idea Lab, and a one-week trip to Madrid in June 2025 for the whole team!

Taking others into consideration in the library

Recently the library has received feedback on the use of sound. We want to remind you that Joensuu campus library uses Sound zones. Due to feedback, we monitor the implementation of them in an enhanced manner. Quiet working conditions are our shared concern and everyone has the right to interfere if needed. If the noise level gets out of hand, please immediately notify the person. If necessary, you can always ask help from the library staff.

In addition, we remind you of moderation in the use of perfumes and fragrances also in the library. The number of people using our premises every day is high and many of them get symptoms from smells and scents. At worst, smell sensitivity can cause a fragrance-induced episode of illness.

Our daily actions have a great impact on everyone’s well-being. Please do your share with making our library a more comfortable environment for the people sitting next to you as well.

Open Educational Resources: What Works, What Doesn’t? Participate in the Survey and Make an Impact!

The library is investigating various platform solutions for UEF’s open educational resources. We need your input for this study, UEF member!

The goal is to find a user-friendly and modern platform for creating, publishing, and using open educational resources. This new platform would gather UEF’s open educational resources in one place for learners to find and use, complementing the existing learning environments.

The survey is open 7–27 October 2024

Career Monitoring Survey starts today!

The university follows the careers of the graduates, e.g. with a career monitoring survey. Career Monitoring Survey has started today, the 1st of October. The target group of the survey is those who have completed a Master’s degree in 2019 and those who completed their doctorate in 2021. The survey is carried out in cooperation with other universities as part of the Aarresaari network and this is the 20th year for career monitoring survey. Please, more information here.

Why should you answer the survey? With the help of surveys, information is gathered about the academic labor market, the career paths of university graduates, and feedback about studies is collected. The information obtained is used in the guidance of current and future students (e.g. the Töissä.fi- service, which is said to be a particularly popular tool in high schools), in the development of curricula, and in studies about the working life of university graduates. The master’s career monitoring survey is also part of the universities’ funding model, so the feedback is really important to the university.

Those who belong to the target group are approached by letter, e-mail or text message, so if you’ll received a contact, we really hope that you will respond to it! The results of previous years can be viewed e.g. Vipunen, maintained by the Board of Education. from the fi statistics service and the aforementioned Töissä.fi service.
