Libraries will be closed – online services continue
The university’s facilities will be closed on Tuesday afternoon, 17 March 2020 at 16.00 (4 pm). This also applies to the Library.
Joensuu Campus Library, Kuopio Campus Library and KUH Medical Library will be closed. There will be no access to the library.
RefWorks downtime Sunday 9th February 2020
RefWorks reference management software will be transferred to a new server.
On Sunday 9th February starting at 5:00 a.m. (Finnish time) there will be downtime 12 hour maximum in both new and old (Legacy) RefWorks, including the Citation Manager and Write-n-Cite.
Remote access user, in order to access e-resources remotely, do this
Log in to UEF-Primo with your UEF-username and password. You can use the e-resources remotely and save references and searches in UEF Primo.
OR
You can also search for material without logging in to UEF Primo. If you want to access e-resources outside the university network, you can use the Quick References on library’s homepage or perform a search in UEF Primo without logging in. Access the data by clicking the link “available online” / “Full text availability”. Log in to the opening remote access server with your UEF-username and password. This way you can access e-resources, but the customer functionalities of UEF Primo, such as saving searches and adding favourites, are not at your disposal. For more information [email protected].
When you want to make use of the UEF Primo customer functionalities and you don’t have a library card, register as a customer by filling an online form. Registration doesn’t require picking up a library card – the card is required only for borrowing print materials.
If you already have a library card, but you are unable to log in into UEF Primo, the problem is most likely in your customer information. To solve the problem, contact [email protected]. You don’t need to register as a customer again.
Requests on legal deposit material
You cannot place requests on legal deposit material (JOE Vapaakappale) in UEF Primo.
You can order legal deposit material for reading room use within the library’s premises by filling in the Deposit copy request form.

Online payment is not possible for the time being
Due to library system change online payment is not possible for the time being. We plan to put online payment in UEF Primo to use in early 2020.
Maintenance break in Ebook Central on Saturday, 21 December
On Saturday, 21 December 2019, ProQuest will perform maintenance work on its Ebook Central platform. Maintenance break will start at 4:00am and end by 2:00pm. There will be no access to Ebook Central books during the break. We apologise for any inconvenience!

UEF PRIMO replaces the UEF FINNA as the library’s search service
The campus libraries will be closed during the system change from 21st December 2019 until 1st January 2020 and the KUH Medical Library from 20th December 2019 until 6th January 2020.
- E-materials can be accessed via UEF Finna until 31st December 2019.
- E-materials can be accessed via UEF Primo by 2nd January 2020 at the latest.
- Printed materials can be searched via UEF Finna until the end of the year, but their availability information is not up-to-date.
- During the transition, all loans have longer loan periods.
- Reserving Legal deposit copies in UEF Finna is closed for the remainder of the year.
- You cannot make requests of article copies of the National Repository Library’s journals. Interlibrary loan services are available.
- Online payments are not possible.
