Apply for student exchange by 15 February!

The application period for Erasmus+/FIRST+/Nordlys/bilateral exchange in the academic year 2020-2021 for degree students of University of Eastern Finland (UEF) is open and lasts until 15 February! At this first stage of application, you will apply for exchange to be accepted as a UEF candidate for exchange (internal call for applications). This is followed by a second stage of application which means that the UEF candidates for exchange apply for their host university to get the final acceptance on the exchange placement.

Do you need help with your application on the application system SoleMOVE? Feel free to attend one of our exchange application clinics! At the exchange application clinic, coordinator(s) from UEF International Mobility Services will answer your questions and help you with any technical issues on the online application system SoleMOVE. Exchange application clinics are held during the application period as follows:

Students – Welcome to Kuopio campus “Student-wellbeing point”

New Contact Point of Wellbeing “Hyvinvointineuvola” on Kuopio campus offers students advice and guidance on services related to wellbeing. The Wellbeing Point is a pilot project and it is open every week on Thursday 9-11, starting 31. October 2019 in Canthia building Room CA206 (2nd floor).

Similar Service will start in Joensuu later on January 2020 (further information later in KAMU).

Registration at the university of Eastern Finland ends on 15 September

The registration period of students already enrolled at the university will end on 15 September 2019. Students who fail to register by 15 September will be removed from the student register.

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree students: registration in WebOodi. Student Union membership fee is paid upon registration. WebOodi uses PayTrail which enables paying the fee with a credit card in addition to Finnish online banks.
  • Licenciate/Doctoral students: registration in WebOodi or by e-mail (opiskelu@uef.fi). If you register by e-mail, please give your name and student number or date of birth.

Guidelines for accessibility in studies are updated

Guidelines for individual arrangements related to entrance examinations and studies are updated via KAMU: https://kamu.uef.fi/en/student-book/accessibility-in-studies/ (The Decision of the Academic Rector 17.6.2019, Instructions for Students and Individual Study Arrangements Form). Individual study arrangements refer to measures previously known as special arrangements.

UEF Learning environment seminar 2019

Registration for the UEF Learning Environment Seminar 2019 is now open. The seminar will be held in Joensuu 27.-28.8. Theme of the seminar is pedagogical diversity in a digitising learning environment. Sign up for the seminar by 12.8. by the training calendar.

Exceptions to opening hours of Student and Learning Services offices

  • Joensuu campus: closed on Mon 8 April (staff development day)
  • Kuopio campus: closed on Tue 9 April (staff development day)
  • both campuses: open 12-14 on Thu 18 April (Maundy Thursday)
  • both campuses: open 12-14 on Tue 30 May (the eve of May Day)

 

 

Short term loans for UEF laptop computers are now available

There are laptops for short term loans available on both UEF campuses. The devices are meant to be borrowed only for a short term, up to 4 hours at a time.

To borrow a device, register as a user for the Optima vending machine, located in the Joensuu university library and the Kuopio Oppari facilities and in the university library.

IT Services 

The opening hours of general student services as of 1 February

As of 1 February, the customer service desks of general student services on both campuses are open Mon-Fri at 12-15. Exceptions to opening hours will be announced on the Student and Learning Services website. The customer service phone line (+358294458900) is open from 10 to 15.

If you cannot visit us during our opening hours, you can always book an appointment by contacting us at opiskelu@uef.fi.
