The library is changing its library system at the turn of year

Effects on library services:

In the transition period all books will have longer loaning periods
course books starting from 2.12.2019
other books starting from 18.11.2019
The last day for making reservations is 11.12.2019.UEF students and staff members can no longer make independent requests of article copies of the National Repository Library’s journals. They will be made via the interlibrary services.  UEF Library is changing its library system at the turn of the year 2019-2020.   Personal UEF Finna accounts will cease on 16.12.2019.
All UEF Libraries will be closed during the transferring phase 21.12.2019-1.1.2020. For other exceptions in opening hours go to library’s webpage (opening in a new window).

Students – Welcome to Kuopio campus “Student-wellbeing point”

New Contact Point of Wellbeing “Hyvinvointineuvola” on Kuopio campus offers students advice and guidance on services related to wellbeing. The Wellbeing Point is a pilot project and it is open every week on Thursday 9-11, starting 31. October 2019 in Canthia building Room CA206 (2nd floor).

Similar Service will start in Joensuu later on January 2020 (further information later in KAMU).

Advance voting for ISYY Representative Council elections is on

Advance voting for the Elections of the Council of Representatives for the Student Union (ISYY) has begun.

Advance voting takes place on 29.10.–1.11.2019 between 9 am and 00 (midnight). The actual election day is 6.11.2019 (between 9 am and 6 pm).

Eligible voters have received a link by email via which the voting is done electronically. The link directs to the login page of the electronic ballot box (registration with UEF username and password). You can see the instructions for voting here.

Eligible voters include members of the Student Union (ISYY) who have registered their presence at the university before 22nd October 2019.

This year, the elections have altogether 149 candidates and 13 lists of candidates. You can find the candidate who represents you the best by using the voting aid application on ISYY’s website. See also the lists of the candidates on the elections website.

At the Representative Council elections even one vote can make a change!

The Voting Aid for ISYY Representative Council Elections Published

The voting aid application for the Elections of the Council of Representatives for the Student Union (ISYY) has been published. Please find the voting aid on ISYY’s web page here.

The application is intended to help voters to find a suitable candidate.

122 of all the 149 candidates corresponded to the voting aid. Questions include general themes related to studying and themes concerning the University of Eastern Finland. The candidates shared their opinions about matters such as the membership fee and how to support students welfare.

Advance voting takes place online on 29.10.–1.11.2019 and the actual election day is on 6.11.2017. All members of the student union who have registered present at the university before 22.10.2019 are eligible voters. Voters will receive by email a link to vote on Tuesday 29.10.

Fair Trade week 21.–27.10.2019

As a Fair Trade university University of Eastern Finland is celebrating it with Fazer Food & Co, who runs campus restaurants, and with Student Union. There are Fair Trade products available in restaurants during the week, Fair Trade receipt competition for students and staff and you´ll get -20% discount as you buy Fair Trade coffee to your own cup.

ISYY Representative Council Elections Panel Discussions during the week 43

Student Union of the University of Eastern Finland (ISYY) will held Panel Discussion for Representative Council Election candidates in Joensuu on Monday 21st of October and in Kuopio on Wednesday 23rd of October. In the discussion, candidates will answer questions concerning different themes either in Finnish or English. Also, the audience could pose their questions in the event.

Come to the Panel Discussion and learn more about the candidates – because you decide who decides. Coffee and candies will be served!

Panel Discussion in Joensuu: Monday 21st of October at 12-14 in Carelia C2.
Panel Discussion in Kuopio: Wednesday 23rd of October at 11-13 in Snellmania lobby.

In the Panel Discussion, one candidate will represent one Candidate List. The same candidate could not represent the list both in Joensuu and Kuopio.

Candidates in ISYY Representative Council Elections Published

Candidates in the Student Union of the University of Eastern Finland (ISYY) Representative Council Elections are published on the ISYY webpage: Candidate Lists and on bulletin boards in both campuses.

In the elections there are 149 Candidates in 13 different Candidate lists.

ISYY Representative Council Elections will be held in both campuses Joensuu and Kuopio. The preliminary voting takes place between the 29th of October and the 1st of November, and the proper election day is the 6th of November.

The voting takes place online, via an electronic ballot box. It is possible to either vote in advance or during the actual election day. Every member of the Student Union (ISYY) who has registered as present at the University is eligible to vote in the Elections. Members will receive a link to their e-mail before preliminary voting days to vote.

In the elections, members of the Student Union will vote in the Representative Council that is ISYY’s highest decision-making body. The Representative Council has 39 members; all of them are students and ISYY members.

The most important tasks of the Representative Council are appointing the ISYY Executive Board and approving the action plan and budget.

New Contact Points of Wellbeing on campuses offers students advice and guidance on services related to wellbeing. Drop in to find out more about the services on the Finnish Student Health Service (FSHS), UEF study psychologists, career counsellors, UEF chaplains, Sykettä Sport Services and the Student union ISYY (Anti-Harassment Contact Persons). The Wellbeing Contact Point is a pilot project and it is open every week on Thursday 9-11, starting 31. October.
