Walk-in coronavirus vaccination for students and employees of the University of Eastern Finland offered on Joensuu Campus on 7 September 2021

The joint municipal authority for North Karelia social and health services (Siun sote) and the University of Eastern Finland will hold a walk-in coronavirus vaccination event on Joensuu Campus on Tuesday 7 September 2021. The vaccinations take place in the lobby of the Carelia building from 09.00 to 11.00 and from 12.30 to 14.30.

Walk-in vaccinations are offered without appointments on a first come, first served basis. The COVID-19 vaccines offered at the walk-in site are 200 BioNTech-Pfizer Comirnaty vaccine. Vaccines are offered to all students and employees of the University of Eastern Finland, regardless of their place of domicile, including international students and staff.

Both first and second doses of the vaccine are offered at the walk-in vaccination event. The earliest that the second dose of vaccine (a booster) may be given is eight weeks after the first vaccination. This means that boosters will be given at the university’s walk-in vaccination event to people who have received their first dose of the vaccine on or before 13 July 2021.

“Only achieving sufficient vaccine coverage will allow campus life without coronavirus restrictions. That is why we are encouraging all our staff and students to get their vaccines as soon as they can. The walk-in vaccination events are held to make this as easy as possible,” says Rector of the University of Eastern Finland, Jukka Mönkkönen.

Siun sote and the university intend to hold more walk-in vaccination events during the autumn. The university will provide more detailed information on the future events later.
