Several cases of COVID-19 on the Joensuu Campus

Exposed students and teachers will swich to online learning for two weeks, and Sykettä university sports services are discontinued for the remainder of the year in Joensuu
Several cases of COVID-19 have been discovered among students on the Joensuu Campus, and there are also several separate chains of transmission in the city. Students and teachers exposed to the coronavirus have been contacted, and they will switch to online learning for a period of two weeks, until 4 December.

Due to the coronavirus situation, Sykettä university sports services in Joensuu are discontinued for the remainder of the year by a joint decision of the University of Eastern Finland and Karelia University of Applied Sciences. The discontinuation of the Sykettä university sports services pertains to those activities that require physical attendance, i.e. it is still possible to hold online classes.

Exposure to the coronavirus has been possible on several group exercise classes as well as in restaurants both on campus and in the city. Siun sote keeps a list of places where exposure to the coronavirus has been possible. The list is updated regularly.

Stay active! – students’ wellbeing in summer

Project is organised at Joensuu campus and online between 22.6.– 31.8.2020. The events are open to all UEF students. Students of the Kuopio campus can also participate in online events.

The aim of the project is to support you in matters related to summer studies and working life, as well as to maintain the ability to study during the summer. Via project we also want to improve the community spirit of students. We organise i.e. small group guidances supporting your study ability and other activities that support the students’ wellbeing.

During the summer you can participate in:

  • study groups: welcome to write your thesis!
  • gentle workouts: group exercise classes are organised from Monday to Wednesday
  • activities for better wellbeing: outdoor games (i.e. mölkky), local hiking and cooking

Clear your desk of loans and fees before summer!

Now is the time to return your loans and pay fees online.

You can return books through the book drop hatches near the campus libraries’ front doors in Kuopio Snellmania and Joensuu Carelia.

After this, you can pay overdue fees online via UEF Primo. We will invoice payments during the summer, so it is advisable to check your due dates and pay overdue fees before summer vacation.

You can return books through the book drop hatches throughout the summer eventhough the libraries will be renovated. For more information contact library@uef.fi.
