New case of COVID-19 confirmed in Rantakylä Teacher Training School

A new case of COVID-19 has been confirmed in Rantakylä Teacher Training School in Joensuu. Exposure to the coronavirus has been possible during Monday, 15 March 2021. According to a preliminary estimate, approximately 55 persons in Rantakylä Teacher Training School have been exposed to the virus.

Those affected have been informed of the matter via Wilma, and Siun sote will contact everyone who has been exposed to the virus by telephone today or tomorrow.

Other pupils and staff members of the school are not regarded as having been exposed to the virus, because they have not been in close contact with the person who has tested positive for COVID-19. Their school work will continue normally.

Window repairs at Joensuu Campus Library’s reading room

The windows in the quiet reading room on the ground floor of the Joensuu Campus Library will be repaired between March 3 and 26, 2021.
The reading room course books in the room are normally available during the renovation.
You can work in the space, but peace and quiet for reading cannot be promised due to renovation noise.

 

Olola space at the Joensuu Campus Library is not available from 15 January to 26 February 2021

Olola space at the Joensuu Campus Library is not available from 15 January to 26 February 2021. The space is under renovation.
The book drop hatch will be closed during the renovation. Books can be returned to the black mailboxes attached to the wall on the left of the library’s entrance door.
Newspapers and magazines in Olola have been moved to be read elsewhere in the library. The newspapers are on the ground floor of the library and magazines are in Hall 2A on shelf 86.

 

Several cases of COVID-19 on the Joensuu Campus

Exposed students and teachers will swich to online learning for two weeks, and Sykettä university sports services are discontinued for the remainder of the year in Joensuu
Several cases of COVID-19 have been discovered among students on the Joensuu Campus, and there are also several separate chains of transmission in the city. Students and teachers exposed to the coronavirus have been contacted, and they will switch to online learning for a period of two weeks, until 4 December.

Due to the coronavirus situation, Sykettä university sports services in Joensuu are discontinued for the remainder of the year by a joint decision of the University of Eastern Finland and Karelia University of Applied Sciences. The discontinuation of the Sykettä university sports services pertains to those activities that require physical attendance, i.e. it is still possible to hold online classes.

Exposure to the coronavirus has been possible on several group exercise classes as well as in restaurants both on campus and in the city. Siun sote keeps a list of places where exposure to the coronavirus has been possible. The list is updated regularly.

Printing Available in Oppari in August

It will become possible to print documents again in Oppari, according to the following schedule:
• in Kuopio Oppari, starting 3rd of August, Mon-Fri 09:00-15:00
• in Joensuu Oppari, starting 17th of August, according to the Joensuu Library opening hours

There will be a PC station in Oppari intended for carrying out printing jobs only. Please follow the UEF hygiene and safety instructons while using the printing service. For the time being all other Oppari PCs will not be available for studying purposes.

Stay active! – students’ wellbeing in summer

Student Union ISYY organises this summer Stay Active! – students’ wellbeing in summertime -project with the funding from European Social Fund. Project is organised at Joensuu campus and online between 22.6.– 31.8.2020. The events are open to all UEF students. Students of the Kuopio campus can also participate in online events.

The aim of the project is to support you in matters related to summer studies and working life, as well as to maintain the ability to study during the summer. Via project we also want to improve the community spirit of students. We organise i.e. small group guidances supporting your study ability and other activities that support the students’ wellbeing.

During the summer you can participate in:

  • ​​​​​​​study groups: welcome to write your thesis!
  • gentle workouts: group exercise classes are organised from Monday to Wednesday
  • activities for better wellbeing: outdoor games (i.e. mölkky), local hiking and cooking

You are warmly welcome, the events are open for all students!

Clear your desk of loans and fees before summer!

Now is the time to return your loans and pay fees online.

You can return books through the book drop hatches near the campus libraries’ front doors in Kuopio Snellmania and Joensuu Carelia.

After this, you can pay overdue fees online via UEF Primo. We will invoice payments during the summer, so it is advisable to check your due dates and pay overdue fees before summer vacation.
